2026/2027 Registration Information

PRE-ENROLMENT OPENS ON MONDAY, FEBRUARY 2, 2026

At Mount Pleasant, we are committed to helping parents make informed decisions as they choose a school or program for their child. Families interested in attending the Cogito Program at Mount Pleasant School are encouraged to read the information on the Alternative Programs page under the Programs tab.

We will host an Information Session on January 13, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. This will include an overview of the Cogito program and an opportunity for parents to tour the school and view the learning environment and expectations.

Mount Pleasant School does not have an attendance area. Students living anywhere in Edmonton may be eligible to attend as long as the Cogito Program will meet their learning needs and the school has room.

NEW STUDENT REGISTRATION

If you are registering for Kindergarten or are new to Edmonton Public Schools, you must register for school. Visit the Division website to learn how to register for school and for further information on Kindergarten registration.

After your child's pre-enrolment has been received by the school, you will be contacted to confirm a Kindergarten Meeting for Success date (for Kindergarten pre-enrolments) or to request further information (for students pre-enrolling in grades 1 to 6).

Following the close of pre-enrolment at 4:00 p.m. on MARCH 25, 2026, should there be more Cogito applications than there is space, the school will follow a random selection process.

KINDERGARTEN "MEETINGS FOR SUCCESS"

All Kindergarten applicants interested in the Cogito Program will be required to participate in a “Meeting for Success.” This is an opportunity for prospective students to engage in age-appropriate tasks presented in a Cogito setting while being observed by the teachers.

School Administration will use the evidence and observations collected during the “Meetings for Success” to engage parents in a conversation about the child’s readiness for the expectations and demands of the program. These meetings are an important way to connect with our new families and students and this connection is vital to student success in the Cogito program.

CONFIRMING REGISTRATION SUBMISSION

Once you have submitted your completed student registration form and supporting documents, we will review all of the documents and will contact you to discuss your child's readiness for the expectations and demands of the program. This does not mean your child has been enrolled at the school. We will also inform you if there are more applicants than space available for the grade in which your child is pre-enrolled, making necessary a random selection process for that grade.

Parents will be notified by phone as to if their child was successfully or not successful in the random electronic draw process by April 17, 2026.

RETURNING COGITO STUDENT REGISTRATION

Families of students returning to the Cogito program at Mount Pleasant are encouraged to pre-enroll through SchoolZone before March 25, 2026 for the upcoming school year.

Sign in to your PARENT SchoolZone account between 8 a.m. on February 2 and 4 p.m. on March 25, 2026 to select your child’s preferred school for the 2026-27 school year:

- - Choose "Next Year"
  - Select the name of the child you are pre-enrolling
  - Follow the instructions to select your child's preferred school for next year
